BACKGROUND

Everyone usually likes their cold brew a little different. We recommended playing with the brew time to get the desired strength. Again, use pure water for this even though you aren’t heating up water for a cold brew method. Room temperature water is fine for this method. (70–75°F)

A hot coffee brewed with the same beans will taste very different than a cold one. Preparing your coffee, the day before you want to drink it is key. When making cold brew, filters are in fact needed. For home cold brew preparation kits please go to ToddyCafe.com or Altocoldbrew.com, both companies have great filters for home use as well. We have tried every can of cold brew in grocery stores over the past two years and 98% of those purchases were a waste.

For a cold brew at a concentrate, level use 50 grams of freshly ground coffee to 500ml of filtered water. Some may find that this is a little strong.

For a cold brew at a ready to drink strength level use 35 grams of freshly ground coffee to 500ml/17 oz of filtered water.

Let the coffee steep for at least 8 hours and for a maximum of 24hrs. Do not disturb it at all during this time. Leaving it at room temperature is fine. Try letting the coffee sit for 8, 12, 16 and 20 hours to see how you like it. We find that more than 24 hours causes odd flavors.
